Terms of Service
The agreement between you and BuilderAudit when you use this service.
1. Who this applies to
These terms apply between you (the person who creates an account) and BuilderAudit, the operator of this service. By signing up, you confirm you've read these terms and agree to be bound by them. If you sign up on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not sign up or use the service.
2. The service
BuilderAudit performs forensic trust analysis on UK construction company websites. We crawl the URLs you submit, extract publicly available content, run automated checks (including AI-driven analysis and reverse image searches), and produce a report identifying trust signals and gaps.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We aim to give registered users notice of significant changes by email.
3. Your account
To use most features you need an account. You must:
- Provide accurate registration information (email, phone, business details, region).
- Use a strong password and keep it confidential. You're responsible for activity under your account.
- Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
- Be 18 or over.
How we'll contact you
By creating an account, or by submitting your details to us in any way — for example to view a shared report, request a trusted-builder match, send feedback, or make an enquiry — you agree that we may contact you by email or telephone about your account, your audits, the request you made, and our services. Where you have opted in, this also includes partner and builder introductions and optional updates such as a weekly score check-in. You can change your contact preferences or opt out at any time from your account menu, though we may still send you essential service messages (for example, about security or account changes).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit URLs for audit in order to harass, defame, or unfairly disparage a competitor.
- Use the service in a way that violates any applicable law including UK GDPR, the Computer Misuse Act 1990, or the Defamation Act 2013.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our data, scoring algorithms, or AI prompts.
- Resell our reports as your own product.
- Submit URLs that you have been notified you are not permitted to submit.
- Use the service to attack, overload, or harm any website (the audit crawler is rate-limited and respects robots.txt).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
5. Audits and reports
BuilderAudit reports are based on automated analysis of publicly available website content at a specific point in time. They reflect our scoring methodology and the AI's assessment.
What reports are not
- Reports are not professional legal, financial, or business advice.
- Reports do not constitute a definitive judgment about whether any business is trustworthy.
- Reports do not guarantee any outcome, including more leads, higher conversion, or better SEO.
- A low score does not mean a business is fraudulent. A high score does not mean it is risk-free.
You are responsible for any decisions you make based on a report, including how you communicate findings to others.
Shared reports
If you create a shareable link to your report, anyone you send it to may be asked to enter their name, email and company before viewing it. Those details are collected by us and shared with you (the report owner) so you can see who has viewed your report, and we may contact those people about our services. Equally, if you enter your details to view someone else's shared report, your details are shared with that report's owner and with us on the same basis. Do not share a report link with anyone you don't intend to share your report with.
6. Pricing
BuilderAudit is currently free to use. Free audits are offered to registered users subject to fair-use limits we may set at our discretion. The trusted-builder matching service is entirely free to homeowners. Paid services, if introduced, will be clearly priced before purchase.
7. Builder & agency partner introductions
If you opted in (at signup or in your dashboard) we may introduce you to vetted third-party partners — for builders, agency partners such as web design, SEO and photography; for homeowners, accredited local building companies.
- We are not responsible for the work, conduct, pricing, or quality of partners.
- Any contract for services or building work is between you and the partner.
- We may receive a referral fee from partners, which we'll disclose at the point of introduction.
- You can withdraw this consent at any time from your dashboard, after which no further introductions will be made.
8. Intellectual property
BuilderAudit, the BuilderAudit name and logo, the scoring methodology, the report format, the AI prompts, and all software underlying the service remain our property.
Reports we generate for you are licensed to you for your own use (including sharing with prospective clients or your own staff). You may not republish reports as a paid commercial product. Public website content shown in reports remains the property of its respective owner; our analysis and presentation of that content is ours.
9. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores and findings will be accurate.
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including lost profits, lost business, or loss of reputation.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) £100, or (b) the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability we cannot lawfully limit, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of statutory consumer rights.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of audit reports, or your unlawful use of the service. We will tell you promptly of any such claim and let you control the defence.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us. We will delete your data within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy (subject to legal retention requirements). We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we reasonably believe you've breached these terms or used the service unlawfully.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by English law. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
